Badminton at the Tokyo Olympics: PV Sindhu wins her first match with ease, defeating Polikarpova of Israel

PV Sindhu, the Indian badminton queen, handily won her first match at the Tokyo Olympics against Israel's Ksenia Polikarpova. Sindhu, who was placed in Group J, trounced the Israeli player without breaking a sweat. Sindhu won the match 21-7, 21-10.

“Despite the fact that my opponent was a lower-ranked opponent. I didn't want to make the mistake of assuming it would be simple.

It is critical to maintain concentration. Sindhu told the BWF website, "I made sure we had some rallies and I got acquainted to the court."

“It's critical to practise all of your strokes and become familiar with them on the court since you can't play them all at once against a tougher opponent. It's crucial to know how well your strokes are going,” she noted.

Badminton at the Tokyo Olympics:

The Indian Badminton Team had a mixed start to their Tokyo Olympics campaign on Saturday.

The opener was lost by Sai Praneeth, while the doubles combo of Satwik and Chirag Shetty stunned the third seeds.

PV Sindhu Wins:

PV Sindhu got off to a fantastic start in the Tokyo Olympics on Sunday, winning her first Group J match at the Musashino Forest Plaza Court 2.

Sindhu won the Group J match against Israel's Ksenia Polikarpova 21-7, 21-10. The entire match was only 28 minutes long.

In the opening game, the 26-year-old brought her A-game and left no room for her opponent to take a breather or gain any momentum.

Sindhu won the first game and appeared to be on her way to winning the match in straight games.

Sindhu, the sixth seed, continued her charge in the second game, and Polikarpova was unable to respond, and the Indian shuttler went on to win the match in straight games.

Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy of the men's doubles team won their first Group Stage match in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics on Saturday.

In the Group A game at the Musashino Forest Plaza Court 3, the Indian duo upset Lee Yang and Wang Chi-Lin 21-16, 16-21, 27-25.

On the same day, India's Sai Praneeth was defeated by Israel's Misha Zilberman in a group stage match. In the Group D match at the Musashino Forest Plaza Court 2, Zilberman defeated Praneeth 21-17, 21-15.

The 26-year-old is in an easy Group J after losing to Carolina Marin of Spain in the 2016 Rio Olympics Final. It also includes Hong Kong's Cheung Ngan Yi.Ngan, who is rated 34th.

As India waits for its first gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics, she will try to improve on her previous performance after capturing silver in the 2016 Olympics.

As the two meet off after a six-year hiatus, the competition is anticipated to be evenly matched.

“There are a lot more obligations and undoubtedly there will be pressure,” PV Sindhu said.

“Even the last time in 2016 (Rio de Janeiro), I was not a well-known person, but now that people are looking at me and understanding my game, I think it would be very harder and not easy.”
