Rabada-Nortje's speed combo is expected to face Mumbai Indians at Chepauk tonight.
The Delhi Capitals will face Rohit Sharma's Mumbai Indians in a rematch of the IPL 2020 finals tonight at the Chepauk Stadium.
The Delhi Capitals seems to be in good shape as a unit. Shikhar Dhawan has a series of high scores going into this game. They seemed to have found their right combination even without speedster Anrich Nortje, and his inclusion would only add to that.
Nortje and his fellow countryman Kagiso Rabada, on the other hand, have been a vital cog in DC's speed arsenal and were one of the key architects in guiding the franchise to the IPL 2020 finals.
In the previous edition, Rabada and Nortje shared 50+ wickets between them.
In last season's IPL, Rabada and Nortje were the main bowlers for DC. The duo shared 52 wickets between them, with Rabada finishing as the tournament's leading wicket-taker.
Rabada had 30 scalps at the end of the tournament, while Nortje had 22 scalps at a strike rate of 17.50.
Rabada's progress and growth as a T20 player has been huge this season, with his ability to strike at crucial moments eventually becoming the difference-maker in what seemed to be losing battles.
In Qualifier 2, Rabada took three wickets in one over, effectively ending the Sunrisers' chances of reaching another final.
Given the significance of death bowling in the T20 format, the fact that he did it in the penultimate over to defend his team's total is possibly even more important.
Nortje, on the other hand, made history by delivering the fastest delivery in IPL history at 156.22 kilometres per hour.
In the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the South African right-arm fast Anrich Nortje was a revelation for Delhi Capitals (DC) and had stolen the show.
Nortje would most likely replace Woakes in DC. The bowling scores of the playing XI Delhi Capitals will be more or less satisfactory.
Kagiso Rabada has returned to the team, and Nortje's addition has given them a boost.
Boult and Bumrah would undoubtedly face stiff competition from Rabada and Nortje. While Rabada made his IPL 2021 debut against Punjab Kings last week, Nortje has yet to make an appearance.
If Nortje is selected for the starting XI, he will likely replace Chris Woakes, who has failed to impress so far this season.
Delhi Capitals Likely Playing XI
Delhi Capitals: Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant (c&wk), Steve Smith, Marcus Stoinis, Ravi Ashwin, Lalit Yadav, Kagiso Rabada, Chris Woakes/Anrich Nortje, Avesh Khan, Amit Mishra.
